We use the Grace Little Centre as a base for children's support and activities. The centre and staff team provides a safe and secure environment for young people with disabilities to socialise and relax with their peers, try new activities and increase their independence.
Facilities
The centre is fully accessible and has moving and handling equipment suitable for the needs of the most profoundly disabled young people. The activity wing has a sensory room, soft play, IT and arts and crafts area. You can hire different parts of the activity wing privately, prices are available on enquiry.
Fundraising
During 2009 we received a bequest from a member Grace Little of around £200,000 and the trustees decided to use this towards building a local centre. We have had some wonderful support with fundraising for the centre starting with a gift of land on a 150 year lease by Kingmoor Park Properties.
In December 2010 Cumbria County Council were able to help us with a grant of £160,000 to build the centre. In March 2011 we received a fantastic donation worth £175,000 from local couple Anne and Ray MacDowall. We have had many other donations since then which have helped us complete the project.
