The Independence Studio is a day opportunity that is ran by Carlisle Mencap. Participants with learning disabilities are supported to build confidence and independent life skills.

The Independence Studio started as an art and animation studio that was ran by very talented adults with a learning disability. We have created short animated films on important topics such as voting, healthy eating and hate crime. These films were created in order to help educate others on topics that may be difficult to understand. 

We have recently developed our provision and will be offering a more structured scheme of work, covering topics around self care, independent life skills, relationships and gardening.
