Trivial treat for Christmas - quiz!
GET your thinking Santa caps on for Carlisle Mencap's Big Festive Quiz on Monday, December 3 - it promises to be a trivial treat in the run-up to Christmas!
The fabulous Old Fire Station in Peter Street, Carlisle, is the venue for what promises to be a fun night of fundraising for Carlisle Mencap with teams of four invited to enter at £20 a team - payable on the night.
The quiz is the brainchild of Carlisle Mencap's events and fundraising officer Phil Taylor, who has been compiling the questions for the event and will be the 'Jeremy Paxman' on the night, acting as quizmaster.
Phil says: "I love quizzes and I know so many people of all ages love them too, which is why I thought this would be a fantastic way to organise a good night out as well as raising vital funds for Carlisle Mencap. So because it is a 'Big Festive Quiz' all the questions will have a Christmas or New Year theme, but there will be the usual subjects like food, drink, movies, music, sport and general knowledge - some hard, some not-so hard and some easy. But above all it should be fun!"
The quiz gets underway at 7pm at the Old Fire Station. Teams should contact Phil - see details below - to register on or before Thursday November 28, but as mentioned above teams can pay their £20 entrance fee on the night. The McGrew's Bar will be open and their will be prizes to be won plus a raffle.
"There's 10 rounds with a total of 210 points at stake," adds Phil. "It would be an ideal warm-up event too for those people who love taking part in the big Sands Centre Quiz every January. Anyway, the more the merrier because we want to raise lots of funds to help people with learning disabilities. Just remember - the judge's decision - ie, mine- is final!"
To register a team on or before THURSDAY NOVEMBER 28, please contact Phil at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01228 674393.
