History project

The Hertiage Lottery Fund Young Roots programme fund have granted the Indpendence Studio £30,000 for a project about the history of learning disabilities in North Cumbria. The artists willl be creating film and artwork to record the history. The project will be finished in time for our 50th anniversary in 2018. We want to hear the stories of people with learning disablity, their family and friends over the last 50 years.Your story need not be 50 years old - it can10 , 20, or 30 years old.We are very interested in stories or photos from Carlisle mencap ,James Rennie School and Dovenby Hall.Please contact us with your story.

TO celebrate the the sixth anniversary of the opening of Carlisle Mencap's Grace Little Centre for children, the facility will be the venue for a Big Tea Party fundraising event.

Date: 4th November Location: Watchtree Nature Reserve, Wiggonby

FOUR Carlisle Mencap staff will be stepping out at Watchtree Nature Reserve at Wiggonby on Sunday November 4 for a sponsored walk to mark two anniversaries.
