The Grace Little Centre celebrates it's 2nd Birthday

During 2009 we received a bequest from a member Grace Little of around £200,000 and the trustees decided to use this towards building a local centre. The centre will has hi tech moving and handing equipment suitable for the needs of the most profoundly disabled young people. There are 4 en-suite bedrooms for overnight stays and staff accommodation in the residential wing .In addition in the activity wing which is open to non residents there is a sensory room, soft play, IT and arts and crafts area.
We have had some wonderful support with fundraisng for the centre starting with a gift of land on a 150 year lease by Kingmoor Park Properties. In December 2010 Cumbria county council were able to help us with a grant of £160,000 to build the centre. In March 2011 we revived a fantastic donation worth £175,000 from local couple Anne and Ray MacDowall. We have had many other donations since which have helped us complete the project.
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been involved in fundraising for the Grace Little Centre: Grace Little, Ann and Ray Mcdowall, Kingmoor park, Cumbria county council, Story group, Fred Story, Carol and David Cox, Cloth Workers Foundation, Hadfield Trust, Damien Baglee, Ryan Hyslop, HSBC, Joyce Cogan, Bailey Thomas Trust, Sue Nicholson, Austin Friars School, ACT foundation, Mr and Mrs Davies, The Braiden family, Ponden Mills, Peter Tyson, Razzamataz Theatre School and everyone else who has been fundraising and donating to us.
We are having a second birthday party on the 21st October from 13.15-15.00 and we would love you to join us in celebrating at our centre.
