Limelight tickets on sale
TICKETS - costing just £7 each - are now on sale for Limelight Live 2018, the fantastic 11-act concert in aid of Carlisle Mencap and taking place this December.
The tickets have gone on sale at the venue - Harraby Community Campus Theatre in Edgehill Road - for the event which will feature the man who won ITV’s Stars In Their Eyes by performing as Meatloaf .
Limelight Live 2018 takes centre on Sunday, December 9 from 6.30pm and will feature no less than 11 music and dance acts, including Meatloaf impersonator Matt Shaw, alongside local artists. All proceeds from the concert will go towards Carlisle Mencap, which helps more than 500 adults and children with learning disabilities and their families across Cumbria.
The event is the brainchild of Damien Baglee, of Thompson Accident Repair Centre in Durranhill, Carlisle, who is a keen supporter and fundraiser for Carlisle Mencap and who also plays guitar with his band The Blue Flames. It was an appearance by The Blue Flames at a summer fundraising event for the charity at the same venue in August that gave him the idea for the Limelight 2018 concert.
Damien, who is organising the event along with Carlisle Mencap, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, said: “This should be a great showcase of local talent, alongside the fantastic performer Matt Shaw, and will be a fabulous night of entertainment to raise money for a very worthwhile cause. And the theatre at Harraby is an ideal venue for a night like this too.”
Among the other acts appearing are singer-songwriter and Youtube sensation Melanie Baker, Eden Dance, The Jack Duster Band and The Blue Flames.
Sponsors for the event include David Allen Financial Services, Arnold Clark, Purdham & Waugh, Uber Creative Designs, and Thompson Accident Repair Centre. Some tickets are also available from Damien at Thompson Accident Repair Centre, or Phil Taylor at Carlisle Mencap.
Phil, events and fundraising officer at Carlisle Mencap, said: “What a wonderful way to get into the Christmas spirit and also to bring down the curtain on our special 50th anniversary year. Damien and the gang have done a great job and we’re grateful to all the acts and sponsors for supporting Carlisle Mencap.”
Other fundraising events lined up in December for Carlisle Mencap include a Big Festive Quiz at the Old Fire Station in Peter Street, Carlisle, on Monday December 3, and a Christmas Fair at the charity’s Dove Street café and nearby Church of Scotland hall in Chapel Street in the city centre on Wednesday, December 12.
